VIDEO EDITING GUIDE
Is Genjutsu AI Free?
Learn how AI Genjutsu pricing works, why video generation uses credits and how pay-as-you-go generation works without a subscription.
Create VideoThe short answer: generation is paid
No. AI Genjutsu does not currently offer free video generation. You can read the guides and explore the editor without purchasing, but submitting an edit requires an account and sufficient credits. Creating an account is not the same as receiving a free render. The generator first checks your source footage and presents a credit quote; you choose whether to continue. This lets you evaluate the cost of your actual clip instead of relying on a headline price that may assume a different duration.
Why editing a video costs credits
A video contains many frames that must remain visually connected. Replacing a character requires the system to interpret movement, poses, lighting and occlusion throughout the clip. A convincing result must fit the replacement into those changing frames rather than modify a single image. Processing consumes paid AI compute, and storing uploaded media and completed videos adds operational cost. Credits are the site’s payment unit for that work. They do not imply a fixed number of videos, because a longer source clip can require more credits.
Buy when you need an edit
The pricing page offers one-time credit packs. You do not need a recurring subscription to use this workflow. Read each pack’s amount, price and validity before checking out, then return to the editor to get a quote. A purchase buys credits rather than a guaranteed number of acceptable creative results. Avoid buying a larger pack solely on the assumption that every first attempt will match your reference perfectly. Start with a short clip and a focused replacement instruction to assess whether the workflow fits your footage.
Control the cost before generating
Begin with a four-second source clip rather than a long montage. The current editing workflow produces character replacement with selectable 480p, 720p or 1080p output. It accepts a source video and one reference image, then calculates the site quote from the validated source duration. Review that quote before pressing Generate. Editing the instruction invalidates the displayed quote so you can check again. Do not assume that changing a prompt will make a complex clip easier: a clean source shot and a well-matched reference usually give you more useful information from a first test.
What to do when an edit fails
Keep the task in your history and check its status before trying again. An explicitly failed edit returns site credits; a submission with an uncertain provider response needs support review. If the result is still being saved, refreshing the existing task is preferable to creating another paid request. A completed video may still contain creative artifacts and does not become a failed task simply because you dislike a detail. Review the output before planning another version, and change one variable at a time so you understand what each attempt tested.
Budget for a first test
Plan a small test around a specific question: can the replacement follow this walk, turn or gesture convincingly? Keep enough credits for that quote and avoid treating an initial trial as a finished campaign. Review the pack expiry before buying and retain the task record if something goes wrong. Do not send another request while the first is uncertain. When comparing services, include any attempts needed to reach a usable result rather than measuring only the cheapest advertised render.
